Location: Remote from anywhere in the continental US, with the ability to travel to campuses and other
locations.


Compensation: Antioch University offers a competitive compensation and benefits package that
includes both direct and indirect pay. The compensation will be based on experience, education, knowledge, credentials, and a consideration
of the difficulty and complexity of the position. The starting salary rate for this position is $80,000.00.



Position
Summary

The Senior Web Architect is primarily responsible for creating the architecture that supports the networked
university. This professional will implement the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of back end and front end applications and
websites supporting the university’s mission and strategic goals. This highly skilled individual collaborates with various university
stakeholders to gather requirements, provide technical expertise, and ensure web solutions are innovative, user-friendly, accessible,
secure, and aligned with university standards and industry best practices.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lead Web Development Efforts:


  • Oversee and provide the design, development, and maintenance of complex web
    applications and websites. Incorporates new technologies.
  • Provide architectural guidance for new web projects and the migration of
    existing features.
  • Coordinate web functions, monitor web activities, incorporate new technologies, and enhance existing
    websites.
  • Integrate and maintain cross-platform, multi-threaded software components that operate in the University network
    environment.
  • Work with, integrate and manage 3rd party software where necessary.

Technical Expertise &
Development:

  • Design, develop, and optimize server-side logic, APIs, and database structures to ensure high performance
    and reliability. Work with technologies such as .Net or JavaScript frameworks to build secure and scalable systems.
  • Write and
    review object oriented code using various programming languages (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Python) and frameworks (e.g., React,
    Angular). (.NET and/or Colleague experience a plus)
  • Design and implement complex web, data, and back-end systems.
  • Perform
    data transformations, including cleaning, aggregating, and reformatting API responses or datasets to meet application and database
    requirements.
  • Maintain security for university web applications and database interfaces.
  • Create and maintain web pages,
    templates, and update existing content as necessary, ensuring consistency and University brand compliance.
  • Run functionality tests,
    debug code, and troubleshoot issues to ensure high quality and optimal performance.

Project
Collaboration:


  • Collaborate with designers, stakeholders, 3rd party consultants and other university teams on front-end
    tasks to implement user-facing features, ensuring seamless integration with back-end systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional
    teams to define requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and
    team members, including explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical individuals.

Documentation, Mentorship
& Staying Current:

  • Write and maintain clear documentation for internal teams and external collaborators.
  • Supervise and mentor junior web developers and other entry-level employees, providing guidance and fostering their skill
    development.
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Continuously improve systems
    and processes university-wide.

Experience and QualificationsMinimum Requirements


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development, or a related field, or equivalent
    experience.
  • Experience: 7 years of experience in web development and back-end development, including experience in a senior or
    leadership role.

Technical Skills:

  • Fluency in back-end languages such as PHP, C#, .NET,,
    etc.
  • Basic front-end skills (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React) for occasional UI tasks.
  • Proficiency in database
    management systems (e.g., SQL).
  • Experience with version control systems, preferably Git.
  • Strong experience with
    third-party API integration (e.g., REST, GraphQL) and handling authentication, rate limits, and error responses.
  • Proficiency in
    data transformation techniques, such as parsing JSON/XML and data mapping.
  • Experience with service oriented architecture (SOA)
  • Experience with content management systems

Hours of Employment

This is a full-time position serving a national university. A work
schedule will be established in consultation with the supervisor.
