General Description
The Small Business Consultant will provide general consulting services and report to
the Associate Director of the FSBDC at UNF.
Job Functions
-
Deliver consulting, training, and outreach in the
18-county service area. -
Assist small businesses with activities to start and grow a Florida based small
business.

Ensure timely achievement of program deliverables.
-
Meet assigned KPI’s
annually.
-
Develop and deliver business plans.
-
Perform financial analysis and create financial
projections.
-
Create educational materials and present programs.
-
Conduct outreach to educate clients, partners,
and stakeholders on SBDC services and impact.
-
Lead assigned programs within the SBDC.
-
Foster an engaged
workforce through effective supervision.
-
Recruit, hire, and onboard direct reports as needed.

Travel within
the 18-county service area as required.

Perform specific duties during campus emergencies at designated
locations. -
The Small Business Consultant is responsible for effective administration of SBDC services in the 18-county
service area.

Coordinate the implementation and administration of departmental processes and/or
programs. -
Provide professional level departmental and client support.
-
Work collaboratively with university
staff to ensure program’s success. May interpret departmental policies for area of responsibility. -
Consultant reports to the
UNF SBDC Associate Director.

Consultant delivers UNF SBDC’s micro enterprise assistance programs.
-
Consultant
is responsible for administering the program and its budget in compliance with FSBDC, UNF and other applicable funding source guidelines,
and ensuring that all deliverables are met in a timely manner.

Employee will report the activities of the micro enterprise
programs as proscribed by grantors and will assist in developing and implementing procedures for the programs. -
Employee will
provide direct client services including group training, individual counsel, and public appearances.

Employee will assist in
generating additional grant dollars to expand micro enterprise services in the 18-county service area.

Employee will supervise assigned small business consulting coordinators, OPS Consultants, student assistants,
and/or training assistants.
Marginal Functions

During declared campus emergencies, this position may
be required to perform specific job-related duties at a designated off campus location or place of residence. -
Other duties as
assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master’s and 2+ years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years
of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.
Departmental
Requirements:
- Experience should include business ownership of 5 years or more and/or significant management experience,
management consulting and teaching/training. - Varied business management expertise should include business planning, financial
analysis, access to capital, marketing, cash-flow management, business startup and human resource management. - Strong interpersonal
and communication skills. - Bilingual skills highly preferred.
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft 365
required.
Location Requirements:
This position is located in Jacksonville. This position is not eligible for
hybrid or remote work.
