Position Description
The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for producing
compelling visual and written content for social media that is aligned with Marketing & Communications goals. Reporting to the Public
Relations & Communications Manager, this position is part of a dynamic, energetic, and creative Marketing & Communications team that
supports all areas of Eastern University. This individual should be a self-starter with a passion for creative excellence, strong attention
to detail, and comprehensive knowledge of social media platforms.
Position Responsibilities
Social Media:
- Create, manage and post regular content for all official University social media
channels. - Coordinate content on social media sites that upholds the brand and mission of the University and ensures a consistent
message to all audiences. - Manage and oversee a team of student workers and volunteers who assist in generating social media
content. - Stay up to date with social media trends and current best practices.
- Track and report social media analytics as
required. - Collaborate with other areas of the University, including the Leadership Team, in their social media efforts by monitoring
and overseeing accounts in various departments and colleges. - Respond to social comments as required and report any problems or
negative social interactions immediately. - Work with minimal supervision as a member of the creative team in a fast-paced Marketing &
Communications environment. Must be a self-starter. - Embody values of caring and compassion, justice and integrity, competence and

Photo/Video:
- Assists with photo and video shoots as needed with
the Visual Team - Creates and edits engaging video content for social
Writing/Editing:
- Writes
regularly to produce content that will be shared on social media including press releases, website stories, magazine articles, interviews
with community members, etc. - Proofreads and edits content in a strong and compelling
manner.
Qualifications
General Requirements
- Demonstrate personal
Christian faith and an affirmation of the EU Mission and ethos. - Show evidence of personal and professional integrity and
character. - Flexible, team-oriented, collaborative, positive work ethos and attitude.
- Preferred but not required: College
degree in a relevant field or 2-3 years of relevant work experience - Possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License and suitable
driving record. - Experience in marketing and communications preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively and creatively in a
fast-paced environment - Good organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to meet deadlines while coordinating multiple
projects and tasks - Demonstrated commitment to diversity.
- Understand the requirements for institutional success in the higher
education marketplace of the Philadelphia region and beyond.
Basic Competency Requirements
- Evidence of
capacity for strategy and implementation. - Research acumen; capacity to collect, manage, analyze and apply data to inform social
communications strategies, tactics, planning and practices. - Ability to render timely decisions in a fast-paced competitive higher
education market. - Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent grammatical skills.
- Thorough
knowledge of social media platforms and how they’re being used today. Ability to utilize and post to all social major media platforms
(Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, etc.) - Ability to use G Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.) as well as
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) - Demonstrated ability to develop story ideas for multiple audiences across varied
media - Ability to proofread and edit content in a correct and timely manner
- Interest and/or experience with photography and
video - Interest and experience with basic graphic design (i.e. Canva)

In accordance with state laws, Act 73 of 2007, Act 153 of 2014, Act 168 (relating to the Child Protective Services
Law), school employees of Eastern University who will have “direct contact with children” must complete the background check process prior
to employment. Results must be submitted within ten days of receipt.
