The Sports Dietitian provides individual and group/team nutrition services, including counseling
and
education, to enhance the health and performance of student-athletes competing on behalf of the
athletic department, as
assigned.
Responsibilities
- Assists with provision of nutrition and dietitian related services, including
working directly with student-athletes and teams as assigned - Provides counseling to student-athletes on optimal nutrition for
training, competition, recovery, weight management, hydration, immunity, disordered eating, travel, and supplementation - Conducts
nutritional assessments and screenings for individuals and teams, including assessing and analyzing dietary practices, body composition, and
energy balance in the context of athletic performance and health - Implements team nutrition plans, including consultation on team
meals and snacks based on schedule and activities - Collaborates with sport coaches, strength and conditioning staff, sports medicine
staff and related student-athlete service providers to ensure a comprehensive approach to training, nutrition and recovery, as well as
aiding in the treatment of diet and nutritional-related medical issues - Plans and implements nutritional strategies for fueling and
recovery for select teams - Collaborates with the training table staff and assists in management of menu development, preparation,
meal deliveries, and team meal schedules - Coordinates and plans team meals as needed
- Communicates with team physician and
director of sports medicine to research, evaluate, recommend, purchase, distribute, and monitor permissible and effective nutritional
supplements with attention to NCAA and IOC rules, regulations, and nutrition related bylaws - Conducts body composition assessments by
utilizing and maintaining appropriate technology (i.e. Bodpod) - Assists in management of fueling station operations, including
scheduling, procurement, ordering, receiving, and inventory - Manages and mentors undergraduate student volunteers, fueling station
employees, and interns - Maintains dietetic registration and continuing education requirements
- Stays abreast of current food,
nutrition, and health issues and research related to sports nutrition

understanding, sympathetic, and positive in approach when working with student-athletes and coaches - Ability to work with a variety
of staff and athletic population to provide a culture of openness, acceptance, opportunity, and respect - Ability to accurately
measure body weight and accurately assess body composition - Ability to accurately assess and evaluate energy balance and
needs

Qualifications
Minimum: Requires a bachelor’s degree in food science,
nutrition science, dietetics, or related field; and two years of experience working in collegiate athletics as a GA, Fellow, Intern, etc. or
in a comparable setting, working directly with elite athletes.
Preferred: A master’s degree and 2+ years of
experience working as a sports dietitian in collegiate athletics or in a comparable setting working directly with elite athletes is
preferred.
