Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Staff Assistant for the Central Offices for the FXB Program located in Newark, NJ for the Child Health Program within the School of Nursing.
The Staff Assistant (SA) performs a wide variety of administrative support services within a Child Health Unit (CHU) in a CP&P Local Office. The SA is the central point of coordination for operations within the CHU. Under the direction of the Regional Nurse Administrator (RNA), the SA also assists and supports nursing staff in the clinical activities of the unit.
Duties include:
- Provides administrative, analytical, computing, and staff support for the CHU.
- Completes assignments and tasks requiring data collection, information gathering, analysis, data entry/retrieval, data base maintenance, and forms/graphics generation, utilizing a variety of software packages.
- Screens calls and provides information in accordance with organizational policy.
- Receives and appropriately handles incoming correspondence, makes appointments, schedules meetings, and responds to inquiries.
- Develops and implements controls for work assignments under the direction of the RNA

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts, Public or Business Administration, the Social Sciences or a related field, plus one (1) year of professional level experience in a business office, government agency, or university setting.
- Equivalent experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements
- Requires computer literacy/computer skills
