Job Description
The
Strategic Communications Manager drives the creation and delivery of high-impact written and multimedia content that elevate USF’s
visibility and reputation as a leading research university. Reporting to the Senior Director of News Content and Production, the Strategic
Communications Manager is required to produce multi-channel content through articles, original photography and videography, ensuring
seamless integration with multiple university platforms.
The Strategic Communications Manager must have the drive to learn new
things, skilled in translating complex subject matters for a general audience and the ability to complete projects on tight deadlines. This
role works in close partnership with media relations, marketing and social media teams to amplify storytelling across owned platforms,
earned media and paid channels.
As a representative of University Communications and Marketing, the Strategic Communications Manager
cultivates strong relationships with faculty to uncover compelling research stories and position USF expertise to local and national
audiences. The individual also designs and facilitates faculty outreach efforts and collaborates with media relations to maximize coverage
of USF-produced content in mainstream news outlets.
Responsibilities include coverage of university research published in academic
journals, enterprise content that align with USF’s strategic priorities and other stories about the people and projects that make USF
unique. The Strategic Communications Manager must have a strong understanding of AP Style, brand journalism and how to write for targeted
audiences. Additional responsibilities include providing guidance to USF interns, advancing project management efforts and monitoring media
analytics to assess impact of communications efforts.
