Job Summary
Health Sciences Strategy is a collaborative and dynamic environment
where team members contribute to projects that drive the core missions of Health Sciences. These projects, which may last from weeks to
months, require both detail-oriented analysis and the ability to think creatively, critically, abstractly, and theoretically. The intern
will play a key role in developing, managing, and analyzing complex datasets across clinical, financial, and business domains (e.g., patient
segmentation, health outcomes, pro forma financial statements, market assessments) to craft, inform, and monitor health system
strategy.
While data science (e.g., clinical, financial, business analytics) and innovative visualizations are used to support the
strategy, the focus of this role is not data-first but rather leveraging data as a tool to build compelling strategic narratives and
solutions. Day-to-day tasks include supporting analysts and engagement managers by gathering relevant data, ensuring timely project support,
and advancing multiple initiatives concurrently.
The intern reports to the Senior Engagement Manager for
Strategy.
Responsibilities
Coordination of simultaneous projects is essential to the success of Health Sciences Strategy.
The following is representative of work performed but is not all-inclusive:
Provides intellectual support regarding health care
industry trends
Manage data-driven, strategy narratives under the direction of a strategy manager.
For each narrative, assess data
needs and manage requisite data acquisition and cleaning.
Effectively manage all data exploration, modeling, visualization, and
dashboard creation for each narrative.
Synthesizes unstructured, disjointed information into meaningful, compelling narratives that
facilitate development and refinement of health system strategy.
Supports efforts to create presentations with clear, cogent writing and
graphical illustrations.
Work closely with Strategy team members to ensure project relevancy and accuracy

Minimum
Qualifications
Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of
related work experience) required. Two years of related experience, ability to use logic and reasoning to prioritize tasks, expertise using
MS Office software, and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required. Database experience preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field may be preferred.

Preferences
Candidates should possess a combination of strong
analytical skills and strategic thinking. The ideal candidate is gritty, detail-oriented, proactive in seeking solutions, and committed to
delivering excellence in evolving challenges. They should be able to translate complex data into actionable insights that inform
decision-making while maintaining a strategic vision that anticipates long-term impacts.Familiarity with at least one statistical
programming language (R, Python, Stata, SQL) is preferred, but the role prioritizes creating strategic value through narrative and
engagement, with data serving as a tool to achieve this end.Confidence in communication is essential, as candidates will need to present
ideas clearly, build rapport with stakeholders, simplify complex concepts, and lead discussions effectively.Candidates with strong business
strategy acumen or management consulting experience are highly preferred. Interest or experience in business development, healthcare
transformation, finance, database management, statistical analysis, and non-linear systems thinking is also valuable. Meaningful progress
toward a degree in business, strategy, management, statistics, or a related field is preferred, along with the ability to think critically,
abstractly, and theoretically. Experience or interest in geospatial analytics, data mining, big data, machine learning, and healthcare
strategy is a plus.
