Student and Departmental Account Services is dedicated to providing accurate, compliant, and
student-focused financial services for the university community. Our team ensures the precise billing and posting of tuition, fees, refunds,
third-party payments, and departmental charges, while upholding all university, state, and federal requirements. We take pride in delivering

About the Position

This position has oversight of many processing
functions within Student Accounts. Processes that ensure accounts are accurate and maintain a high level of data integrity to facilitate a
smooth financial experience for our student Lumberjacks, family, and campus partners.
Responsibilities Include



75%
– Student Account Processing:

  • Responsible for processing the daily student refunding batch in coordination with campus
    partners verifying direct deposits and checks are balanced throughout the process.
  • Manage refund check stock spreadsheet to track
    student refund numbers.
  • Understanding and auditing student accounts for accuracy.
  • Conducts monthly audits to ensure
    compliance with university policy and procedures.
  • Manages the auto-deferred tuition payment plan and self-enroll payment plan
    process including system configuration, troubleshooting, and reporting.
  • Assist in the resolution of identified duplicate direct
    deposit issues.
  • Research and process student and departmental payment returns and charge-backs.
  • Reviewing and responding
    to tuition payment plan petitions in a timely fashion, providing excellent customer service by understanding account activity.

10% – NAU Departmental Coordination:


  • Establish and maintain a working knowledge of policies and services
    offered by departments with whom the Student and Departmental Account Services works closely, e.g., Office of Scholarships and Financial
    Aid, Comptroller, Registrar, Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions, Student Service Center, Center for International Education, and the
    Veterans Service Center.

10% – Customer Service:

  • Acquire and maintain up-to-date knowledge of the
    Student & Departmental Account Services policies and processes for the purpose of answering inquiries either by phone, email or
    in-person.
  • Apply knowledge to analyze/respond to matters requiring comprehensive knowledge of department policies and procedures;
    research and interpret various levels of information.
  • Contacts various department personnel to resolve discrepancies or problems;
    answers inquiries regarding work being performed.

5% – Departmental Assistance:


  • Assist Student Accounts
    leadership with special projects.
  • Cross train with coworkers to assist during outages.
  • Develop and maintain process
    documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting,
    finance, or related field.
  • 3 years of accounting or finance experience.

*A combination of related education,
experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Qualifications.

  • Experience using:
    • People Soft
    • OnBase
    • Excel
    • Salesforce

Knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge of account management tools, procedures, processes, policies, and concepts.
  • Knowledge of government rules, regulations, guidelines, and procedures related to institutional charges as well as federal and
    institutional/campus-based student loans.
  • Knowledge of university accounting practices.


Skills

  • Proficiency in
    Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Skill in account management.
  • Excellent customer service skills

Compensation

  • Salary range begins at $44,500.00. Annual
    salary commensurate with candidate’s qualifications and related experience.

Pre-Employment Check

Northern Arizona
University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a
degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check. Also, as an
employer in the state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new
employees’ right to work in the United States.



This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore,
per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation,
employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting. If you are applying for a job that requires a CDL,

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire and Security Report


Each year Northern Arizona
University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery
reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to
keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus
has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics
