Teaching, Learning, and Research Technologies Lead

Lycoming College is hiring a Teaching, Learning, and Research Technologies Lead to join our Information Technology Services (ITS)
team.


The Teaching, Learning, and Research Technologies Lead will support the instructional and research services, focusing
on leveraging technology for instructional purposes and planning for sustainable research technologies support across the institution. This
role involves working with faculty, students, IT colleagues, and other academic staff to provide operational support and drive strategy for
innovative teaching, learning, and research at Lycoming College. The Teaching, Learning, and Research Technologies Lead will ensure high
quality standards in planning, design, and implementation of technology to support teaching and learning in labs, classrooms and
technology-enabled spaces across campus.This is a full-time, benefits eligible position working primarily Monday through Friday 8:00 am-
4:30 p.m. with some evening and weekend hours potentially necessary.

What will I do in this role? 

  • Provide support, vision,
    and strategy within the User Experience – Teaching, Learning and Research Technologies service team of IT Services.
  • Actively
    contribute as a member of the on premises & Cloud Infrastructure Services team within IT Services.
  • Oversee day-to-day support
    and maintenance activities for computer labs, technology-enabled classrooms, specialized computer labs, virtual computer labs, affinity
    learning spaces, and reserved technology devices for classroom deployment.
  • Supervise daily support tasks with professional and
    student assistant staff to ensure reliability with technology use in teaching and learning spaces.
  • Maintain ongoing relations with
    academic departments to ensure appropriate support levels and communication concerning evolving needs for teaching and learning.
  • Evaluate, develop, and evolve innovative instructional technologies for viability within instructional/classroom setting and advise
    campus leadership on equipment and training needs. Make recommendations to departments and/or the campus regarding IT equipment purchases.
    Manage a budget that supports funding for innovation in teaching and learning.
  • Oversee and manage academic software licensing and
    renewals
  • Liaise with faculty and academic departments to develop budget requests and proposals for faculty as part of the
    technology replacement/enhancement process. 
  • Support and maintain the Learning Management System (LMS) application
    environment. This includes the integration of data for courses and user access. System management is maintained by the Systems
    Specialist.
  • Develop expertise in the use of Learning Management System (LMS) features. Instruct and guide faculty use and comfort
    with these features.
  • Provide professional guidance to faculty in assessing, designing, producing and maintaining instructional
    material for the most effective delivery of course learning goals and content.
  • Plan and organize professional development
    opportunities for faculty, staff, and students on standard software packages, instructional technology, and innovative
    technology. 
  • Meet with faculty to determine in-class instructional needs for students on the usage of specific
    technologies.
  • Develop support material (written, web based, video, etc.) to document application and classroom equipment
    operation.
  • Develop methods, with faculty, to increase student engagement and assess student skill levels.
  • Develop and
    enhance understanding of learning theory, design practices and emerging technologies to help create effective teaching and learning spaces,
    both physical and virtual. Includes attending conferences, classes and other opportunities that may become available.
  • Monitor,
    evaluate, and share trends in teaching, learning, and research technology.
  • Explore new technologies, materials, and techniques to
    foster innovation.
  • Develop and maintain plans for sustainable faculty research. Understand research projects and gather anticipated
    needs to support them over their research timelines. Work closely with incoming faculty to understand how their desired research projects
    can be supported by our current research technology environment.
  • Promote education and use of information security standards as a
    primary objective of information technology solutions.

What are we looking for? 



Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in supporting information
    technology.
    • Professionals without a bachelor’s degree who have substantial relevant experience may be considered as
      well. 

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills for working with students, faculty, and staff. 
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively in a collaborative (team) environment.


Preferred:

  • Prior experience working within a higher education setting.
  • Master’s degree in Instructional Technology and/or
    Instructional Design.
  • Experience teaching within a higher education environment.
