this Position:

Position Summary
The University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) Career Center seeks a Temporary Employer
Development Event & Administrative Coordinator to support employer-related event planning and provide administrative assistance to the
Employer Development team. This position is central to coordinating career fairs, employer tabling sessions, and recruitment events, while
also managing employer data and job approvals in Handshake.



The coordinator will ensure that events run smoothly, communications are
timely, and employer engagement efforts are well-documented. This role reports to the Associate Director of Employer Development.
Key
Responsibilities

Event Planning & Coordination


  • Assist with the planning, logistics, and execution of
    career fairs (large-scale, niche, and industry-specific) and employer tabling sessions.
  • Manage event logistics including: venue
    reservations, catering, location setup, A/V, signage, employer registration, and staff scheduling.
  • Serve as an on-site point of
    contact for employers, students, and campus partners during events.
  • Track attendance, coordinate name badges, and oversee check-in
    procedures.

Employer Development & Handshake Support

  • Review and approve job and internship postings in
    Handshake to ensure quality opportunities.
  • In alignment with Employer Development and Career Center marketing strategy, create
    tailored marketing of postings and employers (Handshake Collections).
  • Provide administrative support for employer engagement
    activities, including scheduling, communications, and data entry.
  • Support Employer Advisory Board meetings and other employer
    relations initiatives.
  • Assist with tracking event outcomes and preparing post-event reports.

Administrative &
Marketing Support


  • Provide general administrative support for the Employer Development team.
  • Create event marketing
    materials (flyers, social media posts, newsletters) using Canva or similar tools in alignment with UNCW branding.
  • Respond to
    inquiries from employers, students, and staff with professionalism and accuracy.

Minimum Education and Experience
Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple
    priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and professional etiquette).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft
    Office Suite; willingness to learn Handshake.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience:


  • Experience with
    event coordination, customer service, or administrative support.
  • Familiarity with Handshake or similar career services management
    platforms.
  • Experience in marketing, social media, or content creation.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $20/hr – $25/hr


Special Instructions to Applicants:
Please note, this is a temporary
position. The length of the assignment will be based on department need with the possibility of continuation. Temporary assignments cannot
exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31-day break from employment. Employees in temporary positions are not considered permanent
state employees and do not earn leave. Temporary employees are subject to the Affordable Care Act guidelines.
