The School of Architecture, Technology and Engineering at the University of Brighton is looking to appoint 2 Lecturers to deliver design studio modules in our BA(Hons) Architecture course. Our Architecture courses are well established with a history of excellence in industry-focussed design education and award-winning graduates.
As the successful candidate, you should have a strong understanding of current developments architectural education, the accreditation processes of ARB and RIBA, and knowledge of the recent RIBA/ARC changes to the curriculum. An awareness of contemporary architectural practice is essential, including emerging modes of practice and interdisciplinary collaboration. In addition to which, you should have:
- Appropriate professional and teaching experience in architecture, preferably supported by professional body membership.
- You should also have knowledge that supports the delivery of a curriculum that spans the cultural, socio-economic, and physical aspects of Architecture.
- The ability to impart an understanding of design practice through a range of teaching activities.
- Teaching experience in higher education is desirable, as are strong design and communications skills.
Our Lecturers actively engage in course administration, student recruitment and additional duties as required for the successful delivery of the courses. You will also be expected to be able to be able to contribute to humanities and / or Architectural technologies courses. The school is particularly keen to appoint lecturers who are research active to support future REF (Research Excellence Framework) submission, and so candidates with a PhD are particularly welcome.
This post permanent, and is full-time (1.0 full-time equivalent), however we welcome job sharing applications.
