Lecturer in BA Culture Criticism and Curation: Course Tutor

Creative Arts & Design
0

Opportunity for a lecturer to be responsible for teaching, curriculum development, and on-going scholarship on BA (Hons) Culture, Criticism and Curation.

This course is part of the Culture and Enterprise programme at Central Saint Martins. You will work collaboratively within a course team, deploying specialist expertise to develop pedagogy and the curriculum in innovative and critical directions.

The course is broadly humanities-based, situated within an art school context. Combining cultural theories with the practices of curating and journalism, it covers a range of disciplines that includes design, fine art, architecture, fashion, film, performance and literature. Increasingly concerned with interrogating histories and identities, it places critical thinking at the heart of cultural practice. From historical and archival research to curating exhibitions, making zines to arts organisation and festival planning, and from long-form writing to audio-visual essays and digital experiences, the course explores and expands what practice can mean in the humanities, its applications and the value it can bring.

With the course going through the university’s scheduled reapproval process in 2022/23, there is immediate opportunity to be part of a progressive course team in reviewing and reframing the course curriculum, design and delivery, with particular attention on how the course engages with identity and diversity, contested notions of culture, the emergencies of social injustice and climate change, and new relations between conventional and digital environments.
