Pepper has most likely languished in the shelter due to the stigma of having tested positive for FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus). Due to earlier misconceptions regarding the virus, people still fear it when they shouldn’t. Pepper, who is a sweet and affectionate cat who loves attention has, in a sense, been a prisoner of a lab test label.
