Platform Manager – Cellular Genomics

PR, Marketing - UK Jobs

Applications are invited for a Platform Manager to join the Cellular Genomics labs at the Earlham Institute, based in Norwich, UK

The Earlham Institute has established a comprehensive platform for single-cell and cellular genomics, enabling the analysis of cellular heterogeneity in a wide variety of living systems. The platform comprises cell sorting (FACS, Scienion Cellenone), Laser Capture Microdissection and 10X Genomics instruments, linked through automated sequencing library preparation platforms to our genomics platforms.

Our cellular genomics platform works collaboratively, contributing scientific expertise and technical knowledge to the community alongside hosting visiting workers. It also provides access to cutting edge-cell sorting platforms, coupled with advanced molecular biology and genomics, as a service and also delivers training in cell sorting and single-cell genomics to the research community.

The role:

The main role of the Platform Manager is to provide expertise and support to users accessing the platform’s equipment. As part of their role, the Platform Manager will:

  • Enable the delivery of established methods (e.g. Single-cell sorting, 10X Genomics) as high quality services to internal and external users.
  • Manage and operate platforms in the cellular genomics laboratory to maximise use by staff and collaborating researchers.
  • Develop and deliver collaborative research projects with internal and external scientists, including leading and contributing to grant applications.
  • Work with our technology development team to lead the promotion of the cellular genomics platforms, delivering engaging communications to users, stakeholders, and the wider scientific community.

The ideal candidate:

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in cell or molecular biology and previous experience working as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist or have equivalent experience in an academic or industrial laboratory. They will have an in depth understanding of cellular genomics techniques including single-cell isolation by FACS and related methods and familiarity with molecular biology approaches including single-cell gene expression analysis. Demonstrable skills in project and/or platform management would be advantageous.
