Policy Analyst

Salary from £37,197 to £44,802 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £48,168 pa inclusive of London allowance

This post is fixed term post for 2 years, with the potential to extend subject to funding

The Grantham Research Institute is a world-leading centre for the study of the economics and social sciences of climate change and other global environmental problems, based at the London School of Economics and Political Science. The Institute has an active policy analysis team that complements its highly regarded academic research programmes.

We are seeking a Policy Analyst to carry out policy-oriented analysis, on a broad range of topics relating to climate change policy. The role will encompass planning and delivering policyanalysisprojectsincollaborationwithothermembersofthePolicy Analysis Team and the Institute’s research staff. Through a range of activities that incudes horizon scanning, the post holder will help maximisetheexternalimpactandvisibilityoftheInstituteanditswork, and will contributetotheimplementationoftheInstitute’spolicyanalysisstrategy,particularlyonclimate change mitigation, net-zero and sustainable growth.

Candidates will have a postgraduate degree or equivalent and some work experience in environmental economics, climate change policy, environmental policy, energy policy, international relations or a related field as well as knowledge and experience in applied research, policy analysis and a range of climate change related disciplines. With experience of producing high-quality analysis aimed at decision-makers in the public, private or third sector about climate-related issues and a good understanding of domestic and international policies on climate change, post holders will also have experience of managing projects and of contributing as a project team member. Knowledge and experience of climate change economics, sustainable growth and green jobs would be desirable.
