The Biomedical Image Analysis (BioMedIA) group is a friendly, vibrant, multi-national team of around 50 academics, post-doctoral researchers and PhD students, pursuing research on novel computational techniques for the processing and analysis of biomedical images. Topics of interest are image registration, reconstruction, segmentation and modelling. We use machine learning for the extraction of clinically useful information from medical images: for example, for computer-aided detection and diagnosis, computer-aided treatment planning, computer-guided interventions and therapy.

We are looking for an outstanding Research Assistant / Associate to join Dr Ben Glocker‘s team within the (BioMedIA) group, based at the South Kensington campus. The appointee will join Project MIRA, an ERC-funded project which is dedicated to advancing medical image analysis by developing a new generation of machine intelligence that uses powerful techniques of representation learning. The postholder will develop innovative image analysis and machine learning methods, and will work in the following areas: robust deep learning, causality in medical imaging, multi-task / multi-modal learning, geometric deep learning, Bayesian machine learning, generative modelling for clinical applications such as disease detection and semantic segmentation.

To apply, you will need to have:

  • A PhD degree (or close to completion) in Computer Science or a related field *
