Job description:

The Role

We are seeking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic Research Associate with experience in ion exchange membrane development and characterisation to join our group in developing membranes for water electrolysers. The project is focusing on development of next generation anion-exchange membranes (AEM) with improved chemical and mechanical stability to use in water electrolysers for hydrogen production. The candidate will be focusing on membrane fabrication, reinforcement and testing in devices and will be working closely with partners of academics and industry across the consortium who are working on other components (electrocatalyst, flow field , stack) to deliver cost effective and efficient electrolyser technology.

Electrochemical Engineering science group at School of Engineering is recognised as world leading with expertise focusing on electrochemical energy conversion and storage. Both Investigators: Prof. Keith Scott and Prof. Mohamed Mamlouk has long track record and international standing in hydrogen research. You will be working with additional PDRAs at Newcastle on AEM electrolysis projects. You will be part of multiplanetary international teams of over 15 researchers with access to state-of-the-art facilities.

This role is a fixed term contract for 36 months with target start date September 2022.
