UWE Bristol School of Art and Design is based in the heart of one of the most exciting creative cities in the UK with sites at Arnolfini, Spike Island, Watershed and Bower Ashton. About the role:

This unique role offers an exciting opportunity to work between the School and a major contemporary art organisation. Until at least July 2025, the role will focus on the delivery of our unique partnership with Spike Island, a renowned institution and creative community in central Bristol.

You will pursue and translate new knowledge in contemporary art and professional development for artists into collaborative initiatives and projects with Spike Island.

The role includes: designing and developing opportunities for art students to work with Spike Island’s community; co-planning and contributing to professional development events; supporting Graduate Fellows and Associates based at Spike Island; helping to build a shared knowledge culture.

About you:

You are a passionate advocate for contemporary art, collaboration, and professionally-embedded research and knowledge exchange.

You hold or are working towards a PhD relevant to contemporary art, and/or professional practice in the arts, or you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience.

You are inclusive, flexible, resilient, and able to develop and translate advances in the subject area into initiatives and projects, to fulfil partnership objectives. 

You are enthusiastic about working creatively and practically with arts professionals, academics, students, graduates and our extended communities. You are able to work with individuals and groups with different levels of experience and contrasting profiles.
