We are looking for an experienced biomedical scientist with expertise and proven track record in analysis of protein pathway/proteomics/genomics data and adhesion protein and cancer biology at both experimental and computational levels. The post-holder is expected to provide basic bioinformatics/wet lab support to key research programmes in the cancer research component of Institute of Genetics and Cancer and to support teaching and student supervision. The post-holder is expected to drive biological and analytical technologies that support cancer biology programmes. He/she will take a leading role in research project(s), guided by project lead, provide intellectual and practical input into supporting other cancer biology and translational projects and contribute to and develop learning and teaching programmes.

The Opportunity:

The role includes molecular profiling of RNA, imaging, or proteins and phosphoproteins using multiple platforms including nanostring, RNAseq, mass-spectrometry-based proteomics and others where relevant, assisting with the ultimate goal of identifying novel biological hypotheses and/or protein functions and finding causal links to cancer and determining how to intervene sing wet lab technologies. A key element is to support other team members, including post-docs and PhD students. Part of this post is to teach on undergraduate courses being led from within IGC, including in cancer biology, support student project supervision and contribute to IGC’s developing postgraduate taught programmes.
