Research Assistant – £28,756 – £33,309 per annum                

Research Fellow – £34,304 – £36,382 per annum

The School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (EEECS) at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Research Fellow or Research Assistant.

The successful candidate will actively contribute to a major £5M collaborative project between NVIDIA R&D labs and QUB’s strategic Centre for Secure Information Technology (CSIT) and will engage in challenging cyber security related research projects to enhance Data Processing Unit (DPU) based AI centric Datacentre security, investigate DPU centric threat detection techniques, and benchmark hardware accelerated DPU use-cases.

This is an exciting time for the right candidate to join our team and the post holder is expected to undertake novel research and actively participate in the development of Proof-of-Concept demonstrators and performance benchmarking in close collaboration with NVIDIA R&D labs staff.

The successful candidate must have and your CV/Cover letter (or application form) should clearly demonstrate you have:

Research Assistant (AC1):

2:1 Honours degree in Computer Science (CS) / Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) / Mathematics (or related discipline)

At least 1 years demonstrable research experience to include:

  • Software development skills at the systems or embedded level (preferably in C/C++/Python)
  • Relevant academic or industrial research experience in either Network, malware or software security.

Research Fellow (AC2):

(In addition to above)

Have, or be about to obtain a PhD degree in CS / EEE / cyber security

At least 3 years demonstrable experience of:

  • Research/work experience in an area related to cybersecurity
  • Undertaking and successfully delivering cybersecurity related research projects
  • Undertaking research in information security, Attack Models, Cyber Kill Chain and related frameworks
  • Product development lifecycle and secure development practices.

Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
