Reporting to: Interim Manager of Pre- and Post-Award Teams

The role holder will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day management of a portfolio of research grants. S/he will work closely with colleagues in the Department to develop and implement improved systems and processes to help enhance the capacity of Goldsmiths to secure and manage a growing research income portfolio. S/he will provide front line support and advice to academics and their host departments in the development and submission of high-quality applications for external funding. The role holder will furthermore be responsible for carrying out due diligence in the context of externally funded research and for ensuring compliance with funders’ and regulatory requirements such as timely and accurate financial reporting. While the role holder will take particular responsibility for the operational delivery and management of particular bids, awards and tasks as identified by the role holder’s manager, it is expected that s/he will also support colleagues in the broader Department at certain ‘pinchpoints’. Our team ethos is built on the premise of customer focussed, committed, efficient and collaborative working. Working closely with colleagues in the Department and other professional services, the role holder will also actively contribute to enhancing the capacity of researchers across the College to apply for, secure and effectively manage external research funding. S/he will contribute to internal and external communications, such as newsletters, case studies and the development of content for the College’s intranet and external website. We are seeking a motivated professional, with an established track record of working in a research management environment. Flexible and versatile, your proven communication, collaboration and numeracy skills, in addition to your excellent understanding of the UK research funding landscape and processes, will enable you to rapidly build effective relationships internally and externally with a variety of stakeholders including academics, research project managers, and a broad range of funders in the UK and overseas.
