To assist us in driving our strategic and creative vision forward we are expanding our pool of industry-experienced staff to enhance development and delivery of our accredited BA (Hons) Games Art & Design and MA Games courses.
The postholder will contribute to the future direction and curriculum of BA (Hons) Games Art & Design and have a role in developing and delivering innovative teaching. The role may also include teaching on our taught postgraduate programme. The role involves working closely with the Course Leader and Programme Director to strengthen the collaborative links with other courses and with industry.
The successful candidate will have a sound knowledge of the games industry and professional experience in asset production and be able to demonstrate development of a personal creative practice and/or a research profile. Demonstrable skills in modelling and UV mapping with Maya, digital sculpting with ZBrush, and use of Substance Suite for texture creation and normal map baking are essential. Ideally you will also have experience of modular workflows and trim-sheets; game engines such as Unreal Engine and Unity; real-time character creation and Blender.
You will be an advocate for responsible and inclusive practices with an ability to foster a climate of success through debate and co-creation of learning; you will be a champion for promoting diversity and equality in the games industry. You will have the ability to be an engaging, supportive and inclusive teacher who can deliver innovative and engaging digital and on-campus teaching sessions.
You may already be working in education or may be looking to change career. Either way, you will be able to demonstrate currency in your industry experience or research practice. You will be a strong team player able to demonstrate excellent skills in team-working, organisation and management.
The appointment will be made at either Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level dependent on the successful candidate’s experience. We welcome applications from those currently working in education as well as industry-based professionals who we can support in the development of their academic career.
