The University of Essex is looking for a full-time Videographer on a fixed-term contract until July 2023 to cover a period of maternity leave and join our team capturing the essence of our students, our campuses, our University in a creative and dynamic way.

Duties of the Role

Our Media Centre prides itself in producing high quality multimedia content including cinematic videos, professionally produced podcasts and motion graphic videos. This Videographer position is critical in the delivery of multimedia content to support the university’s strategic priorities.

This role will involve end-to-end production processes including assisting with ideas generation, pre-production planning, camera operation, lighting, sound recording, post-production, final editing with the client to publishing finished videos on relevant channels.

The role will also work in close collaboration with Communications and External Relations to ensure the video executions support current objectives and are appropriately profiled on the University website and media channels.

Qualifications and Skills required

The successful candidate will be a highly focused individual with an impeccable eye for detail and proven experience of working with clients to create compelling storyboards. With either a relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience within multimedia production, you will have excellent camera operator skills both technically and creatively and have professional experience of using editing equipment and software such as Adobe Premiere Pro.

You will have an understanding of brand and visual identity as well as an ability to edit multi camera content. With a good working knowledge of Health and Safety procedures with experience of writing and reviewing written risk assessments as well as carrying out on site dynamic risk assessments, you will be working in a fast-paced environment and will need to be able to prioritise complex workloads with conflicting deadlines.

Possessing strong written and oral communications skills, you will enjoy working with a variety of clients and have a strong commitment to customer service. You will need to be adaptable and able to work effectively as an individual as well as part of a team.
