Job Summary/Basic Function
About the position:
The College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) at the University of Millersville University is 100% federally funded through the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Migrant Education. CAMP assists students who are migratory or seasonal farm workers (or immediate family members of such workers) enrolled in their first year of undergraduate studies at an institution of higher education (IHE). Services include outreach to people who are eligible, counseling, tutoring, skills workshops, financial aid stipends, health services, and housing assistance to eligible students during their first year of college. Limited follow-up services are provided to participants after their first year.
It is the responsibility of the CAMP Recruiter to maintain contact with high schools to identify, recruit, and admit students into the CAMP program at Millersville University. In addition, on-site visits, as well as campus visits to educate the students about CAMP will be a large part of the recruiters responsibilities. This position will require the organization of effective recruitment activities; therefore, innovative and creative ideas are highly encouraged. Rapport building skills are essential to this position as the recruiter is responsible for creating and maintaining working relationships with students, schools, and community agencies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reports to the Project Director
- Have expert knowledge of CAMP eligibility and CAMP support programming
- Develop and maintain a database of PA MEP and PA post-secondary school counselors and principals
- Liaise statewide with PA MEP and PA secondary school counselors to identify eligible households and individuals
- Develop and maintain a database of eligible households and individuals
- In cooperation with Project Director, CAMP Scholar Success Coach, MU A&EM, and PA MEP develop recruitment informational materials in print and digital formats
- In cooperation with Project Director, CAMP Scholar Success Coach, MU A&EM, and PA MEP develop a marketing and communication plan
- Liaise with MEP and secondary school Principals and Counselors to deploy information and recruitment materials
- Liaise with MEP and secondary School Counselors to implement the communications and marketing plan
- Develop, plan, and conduct on-site recruiting events in high schools and at community events, including MU Pre-College Programs and other A&EM recruiting events
- Be conversant in and able to assist prospective CAMP Scholars with MU application, admissions, financial aid, and enrollment process
- Be conversant in the full array of MU Student Support programing, including academic, co-curricular, health and wellbeing, student life, career placement, etc.
- Be conversant in navigating MUs online and in-person resources including academic, co-curricular, health and wellbeing, student life, career placement, etc.
- Assist prospective CAMP Scholars with completing CAMP applications
- In cooperation with Project Director and CAMP Scholar Success Coach, facilitate the onboarding of new CAMP Scholars.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree.
- 1 year of experience directly related to working with migrant students and families.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
- Ability to:
- gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
- make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
- analyze high school courses and college prerequisites.
- complete the Federal Application for Financial Aid/State Grant application
- use independent judgment and manage confidential information.
- develop and deliver presentations.
- work effectively with diverse populations.
- plan, assess, and evaluate programs.
- provide leadership and guidance to administrative support staff and/or students.
- develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
- Program planning and implementation skills.
- Knowledge of student recruitment and retention issues.
- Examine, improve, and implement new strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
- Effective organizational and coordination skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Commitment to inclusive practices and working with diverse student populations.
- Valid drivers license.
- Successful interview.
- Successful completion of three background checks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working with Migrant Students.
- Participated in College Assistance Migrant Program and/or Migrant Education Program.
