Tennessee State University Office of
Financial Aid
invites applications for the position of Associate Director for Loans and Default Management.


Job responsibilities:

  • Maintains direct loans in Banner, COD, NSLDS, and ScholarNet for all federal
    Direct Loans and private/alternative loan funds disbursed to student accounts for Banner Financial Aid, monthly reconciliation of all loan
    funding, monthly reconciliation of Pell Grants, monthly reconciliation of Private Loans along with the adjustment to accounts ensuring
    adherence to fund awarding rules and federal and state compliance.
  • Processes Return to Title IV, in accordance with Federal
    Regulations for students who stop attending or withdraw from classes or the University.
  • Works various reports; including, reports
    for Direct Loans, over awards, enrollment verification, and missing information for quality control and compliance
  • Reviews federal
    and state financial aid legal requirements of existing and new legal requirements of existing and new legislation and working with the AVP
    and Director of Financial Aid/OTS System Analyst to change or improve any existing electronic processes.
  • Certifies and reconciles
    alternative/private loan application for students in ScholarNet and Banner and track and awards to ensure EFTs are fed timely to
    accounts.
  • Processes institutional credit authorization for all Graduate level scholarships and Graduate Assistantships from various
    Graduate offices. Ensure all accounts arc adjusted according to all federal and state compliance regulations.
  • Manages Direct Loans,
    including, one Direct Loan Counselor and one Financial Aid Coordinator along with various student workers.
  • Trains staff members to
    ensure they are knowledgeable and up to date on Direct Loan policy and procedures, and Direct Loan operations. Cross-train with staff
    members to stay current on polices pertaining to all Federal funding.
  • Counsels students and parents, as well as update student
    accounts.
  • Creates and sends Direct loan notification, University Communications, and newsletter, to keep students and parents
    informed of Direct Loans and Financial Aid deadlines.
  • Attends conferences and formal training to stay current on all changes in the
    state and federal regulations regarding financial aid processes.
  • Serves as Point of contact for the Financial Aid call center,
    EDFinancial.
  • Attends bi-weekly meetings with the Tennessee State University EDFinancial account manager.
  • Participates in
    monthly meetings with Business and Finance staff related to G5 and drawdowns or returns required to remain compliant with PELL and Direct
    Loan funding due to fund reconciliation.

Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree (preferably in
business, counseling, or a related field) or equivalent business experience.
Financial Aid in Higher Education- 5 years or more
Strong
knowledge of Microsoft products-2 years or more
Banner financial aid administrative software- 3 years or more.
