Job Summary:

The Advanced Practice Provider will be in the Section of Hematology,
Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation – Cellular Therapies. This full-time faculty position will focus primarily on outpatient and
inpatient care of infants, children, adolescents and young adults undergoing allogeneic and autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplant
and cell therapy procedures for malignancies, hematopoietic failure states, and genetic disorders in the Center for Cancer and Blood
Disorders (CCBD) at Children’s Hospital Colorado. You will integrate within the multi-disciplinary Bone Marrow Transplantation and Cellular
Therapeutics (BMT/CT) team including other BMT/CT advanced practice providers in delivering outstanding inpatient and outpatient care for
cell therapy autologous and allogeneic transplant patients. You will be a member of a team that integrates clinical care, education, and
research, with an expectation for contributing to clinical research. This position will have clinical responsibilities seven days per week
on a rotating basis and share weekend/holiday coverage support for patients in the CCBD.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical
    care in the inpatient and outpatient settings including patient history and physical examination, rounds with the multidisciplinary
    inpatient Pediatric BMT/CT team (and/or Hematology or Oncology Teams as needed), writing orders for and helping to interpret diagnostic
    tests, medications, nutrition, and nursing care, and timely and accurate documentation in the medical record;
  • Share in clinical
    coverage of Pediatric BMT/CT patients in the inpatient and outpatient settings on weekends and holidays rotating among all members of the
    BMT-CT APP team. The frequency depends on total staffing numbers and is shared equitably.
  • Communicate with all members of the CCBD
    as well as other specialties/disciplines to promote participation in clinical trials; including identification of eligible study patients,
    educating patients and families, and obtaining consent for study participation. In this role, you will be expected to complete human
    research subject’s protection and other institutional review board training requirements;
  • Assist CCBD physicians with communication
    to primary care and other referring providers;
  • Provide resources and education for patients and their families;
  • Perform
    procedures independently after an appropriate period of training as needed, including lumbar puncture (+/- intrathecal chemotherapy), bone
    marrow aspirates, bone marrow biopsies, and skin biopsies. This will also include assisting attending physicians with bone marrow harvests
    in the operating room on a less frequent basis.
  • Additional responsibilities as needed may include writing orders, completing
    discharge summaries and communications to referring providers, home care agencies, and pharmacies, nursing education, student education,
    providing palliative care consults for BMT/CT patients and other research projects;
  • Participation in Section quality improvement and
    other projects.

Work Location:

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is
located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.


This is an open rank position
and could be categorized as Instructor or Senior Instructor of Clinical Practice based on experience and qualifications as indicated
below:

Instructor of Clinical Practice


  • Master’s degree: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Master of
    Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) from an accredited college or university;
  • Nurse Practitioner (Pediatrics or Family Medicine)
    or Physician Assistant degree from an accredited college or university;
  • Eligible for licensure to practice within the State of
    Colorado;
  • Eligible for Prescriptive Authority; if not currently certified, completing this process will be required within the
    first year of employment;
  • Acute Care certification for Nurse Practitioners;
  • Current certification through the
    National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) for Physician Assistants;
  • Full credentialing at Children’s
    Hospital Colorado is required prior to the first date of employment. Failure to complete credentialing may delay the start of this
    position.

    Senior Instructor of Clinical Practice

  • Minimum five years of full-time experience at
    an academic medical center
  • Master’s degree: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS)
    from an accredited college or university;
  • Nurse Practitioner (Pediatrics or Family Medicine) or Physician Assistant degree from
    an accredited college or university;
  • Eligible for licensure to practice within the State of Colorado;
  • Eligible for
    Prescriptive Authority; if not currently certified, completing this process will be required within the first year of
    employment;
  • Acute Care certification for Nurse Practitioners;
  • Current certification through the National Commission
    on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) for Physician Assistants;
  • Full credentialing at Children’s Hospital Colorado is
    required prior to the first date of employment. Failure to complete credentialing may delay the start of this position

    Condition of Employment:


  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children’s Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check
  • If Prescriptive Authority is not already
    possessed, the process will be required during the first year of employment.
  • Continuous maintenance of Advanced Certification
    and Licenses and all hospital credentialing requirements

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years in a Hematology/Oncology or BMT setting,
    preferably in Pediatrics;
  • Familiarity with or fluency in medical Spanish;
  • Experience with clinical trials and
    clinical research, including human research subjects’ and/or CITI training;
  • Current Prescriptive Authority in the State of
    Colorado

  • Knowledge of pediatric BMT and/or Hematology/Oncology
    patient care and disease processes;
  • Ability and willingness to work in both an Inpatient and Outpatient setting with independent
    care responsibilities;

    The starting salary range (or
    hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:


    Instructor of Clinical
    Practice:
    $106,000 to $114,000


    Sr. Instructor of Clinical Practice: $116,000 to $130,000

    hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
    This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
