Summary of Job Duties:
The Director of the Arkansas Union provides strategic leadership and
operational oversight for a dynamic, student-centered facility at the University of Arkansas. This role is responsible for supervising
professional and student staff, overseeing facility and event operations, leading project planning and execution, and ensuring efficient use
of spaces and services. The Director also oversees budget development and resource allocation and is responsible for creating and
implementing policies that promote safety, compliance, and sustainability.
As a member of divisional leadership, the Director
represents the Union on campus committees and collaborates with partners such as UAPD, Facilities Management, and Emergency Management to
align Union operations with institutional priorities. The Director provides leadership in long-term strategic planning, advances student
engagement initiatives, and fosters a culture of service, accountability, and professional growth. This role ensures the Arkansas Union
continues to be a vital hub for campus, community-building, and university-wide engagement.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive
attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with
others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business,
Hospitality Management, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education - At least five years of experience in
facilities management or a related field - Demonstrated experience in budget development, management, and resource
allocation - At least five years of supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in
Business, Hospitality Management, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education - Experience in event and space
management - At least seven years of experience in student unions or related student services environments
- At least seven or
more years of supervisory experience - Demonstrated experience in project management, including the planning, design, and execution of
new or renovated facilities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Strong knowledge of human resources and
supervisory management - Knowledge of general accounting, budgetary procedures, program planning, financial management, and emergency
response protocols - Ability to coordinate complex operations and manage competing priorities
- Ability to analyze and project
future operational needs - Ability to maintain accurate financial records and prepare detailed reports
- Ability to collaborate
effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders - Adaptability and problem-solving skills in dynamic and evolving
situations
