The Department of Surgery is seeking an experienced Human Resources
professional to support faculty and staff across its eight divisions: Cardiothoracic, GI Trauma and Endocrine, Plastic and Reconstructive,
Surgical Oncology, Transplant, Pediatric, Vascular, and Urology Surgery.
This full-time University Staff position serves as a key
leader in Faculty Affairs, overseeing three core faculty responsibilities for the Department of Surgery: Promotion & Tenure, Faculty
Mentorship, and Faculty Onboarding. The Faculty Affairs Team Senior or Principal Lead will coordinate the annual Promotion & Tenure cycle in
partnership with the HR Manager and Faculty Affairs Coordinator, guiding faculty through dossier preparation, collaborating with the School
of Medicine Office of Faculty Affairs, and tailoring the process to meet individual needs. Working closely with Division Heads and the Vice
Chair of Faculty Affairs, this role also advises on career pathing. In addition, the position manages the Department’s Faculty Mentorship
Program, establishing and sustaining effective mentorship pairings, supporting faculty onboarding, and maintaining program infrastructure.
Regular information sessions, one-on-one advising, and proactive outreach to faculty and mentors are essential to the success of these
initiatives. By working in close collaboration with the People & Operations Manager, this position ensures the seamless integration of HR
and Faculty Affairs functions, strengthening program impact across the Department.
This position will also serve as a back-up to the
HR Operations staff, assisting with various HR transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
Faculty
Affairs (80%)
- Oversee and track all Faculty Affairs actions (appointments, reappointments, administrative appointments) from
initiation to final approval, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and documentation. - Provide guidance to faculty on promotion and tenure,
supporting dossier preparation and submission to the DAC and School of Medicine. - Coordinate faculty onboarding, ensuring
understanding of appointment and promotion processes. - Manage the Faculty Mentorship Program, including mentor/mentee pairings and
tracking program activity. - Collaborate with Faculty Affairs and HR leadership on timelines, reporting, and the annual APP promotion
cycle.
HR Operations (20%)
- Partner with HR Operations on faculty appointments, reappointments, and new hire
onboarding. - Serve as backup in providing divisions with HR transactions and process improvement efforts in coordination with the
People & Operations Manager and Director of Operations.
Hybrid – this role
is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:
Senior
Professional
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and 2 years of professional experience working in Human
Resources, Operations, or Faculty Affairs.
Principal Professional
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited
institution and 3-5 years of professional experience working in Human Resources, Operations, or Faculty Affairs. - A combination of
education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year for year
basis.

Preferred
Qualifications:
- Experience supporting Faculty Affairs functions in an academic medical center or higher education
environment. - Demonstrated experience with complex HRIS systems (e.g., HCM/PeopleSoft, Smartsheet) and ability to manage data-heavy
processes with accuracy - Proven ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and to exercise sound judgment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate a broad range of laws, rules, and
regulations in order to exercise good judgment in applying them to human resource challenges. - Knowledge of the professional
standards, concepts, and practices of recruitment and selection, employee relations, or organizational development and human resource
policy. - Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, including public speaking.
- Ability to establish and
maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution. - Thorough knowledge of current
management and leadership methods and best practices.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s
good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime
compensation, depending on the level.
