Senior Graphic Designer

The Senior Graphic Designer reports to the Director of Web and Graphic Design. Responsible for ensuring the highest quality design of the
College’s electronic and print publications, playing a key role in image development, brand management, and integrated marketing
communications efforts across the entire College campus. This is a full-time, salaried position paying $60,000 – $65,000
annually.

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Conceives of and designs major marketing communication pieces and
    prepares art for print.
  • Serves as illustrator and logo designer when required.
  • Prepares final electronic files for print
    or digital application.
  • Approves all freelancer designs before they are sent to the client to ensure quality standards and brand
    adherence.
  • Ensures that all design meets the highest level of graphic standards.
  • Ensures that all design reflects the
    brand, style, and image of Wheaton College.
  • Designs college print publications for clients across campus and prepares art for
    print.
  • Meets with clients to determine design needs and advise on overall strategy, design, feasibility, and production.
  • Sets publications standards campus-wide by monitoring overall graphic designs of projects, occasionally interacting and working with
    outside vendors as required.
  • Advise and train employees in campus departments who are developing print publications as to overall
    strategy, design, feasibility, and production.
  • Determines paper, type, and ink specifications.
  • Maintains competency of the
    Macintosh computer, scanners, printers, other peripheral hardware; and its software (Microsoft Word, InDesign, Illustrator, and
    Photoshop).
  • Maintains expertise in skills and knowledge of the latest print and graphics technologies, and evaluates tools for
    implementation of such methods.
  • Maintains expertise in troubleshooting Macintosh computers and peripherals.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in art or graphic design.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience
    in print design.
  • Proven excellence and creativity in the use of print graphics software, ie Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator,
    Adobe Photoshop, and other Adobe Creative Suite programs.
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Management
    experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multifaceted projects, meeting deadlines with good planning and efficiency.

  • The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use
    repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to 10 pounds.
